The idea for Jesus Fucking Christ & the God Damn It’s originated in early 2008, when Dave Hyde (Showoff, Those Naked Guys, The Surf Swirlies) was going through some of the band memorabilia he has collected over the years. While playing bass for the Chicago-based punk band Showoff was his biggest claim to fame, he realized that one of his earlier bands, Those Naked Guys, was by far the most fun and the closest to his heart. Dave decided that it was time to start a new band, one that would be purely for the fun of it, that would set out to try and offend as many people who can't take a joke as humanly possible, one with the same heart and goal as TNG...to “not give a fuck about what anyone thinks.” Dave called upon his friend and sometime collaborator, DJ Dirty So -N- So, to man the drums and work some electronic madness, as well as Leopold Logan Loeb for some guitar goodness, and JFC was born.
While the debut album, He Has Risen, is all over the place and quite experimental at times, the rest of the bands music and recordings, to this point, have been more or less hardcore punk rock. Just have a listen to their EP, Back Alley Abortions, and you’ll know what we mean.
Maintaining a policy of offensive fun, and with a carefree attitude influenced by the likes of G.G. Allin and Darby Crash, these guys have set out to play their own small role in the destruction of all that watered down, diet-punk, cry baby bullshit you call your favorite music. Now piss off already!
