Alluvia is the alter ego of Chicago-area native Shannon Hyde. Shannon is self-taught on keyboard and guitar, and was classically trained on flute since the age of 12. She implements her own circuit bent creations in much of her music, in addition to digital sounds and live samples. While her sound stays close to the 8-bit, chiptunes realm, she incorporates elements from many branches of electronic music, and draws inspiration from such diverse genres as punk, metal, vocal jazz, folk, and experimental.
Shannon has been writing and recording her own music for close to six years now, but has only just begun to make her recordings public in the last few years. She has released 2 albums, the second one being the Riotous Records debut release, How It Goes Down. She is currently in the studio working on a third release, due out in late 2008/early 2009, as well as a split with fellow Riotous Records artist DJ Dirty So -n- So.
In addition to music and circuit bending, Alluvia is also a textile/mixed media artist, with several works that have been displayed across North America. In her spare time, she enjoys doing graphic and web design, as well as taking care of stray cats and avoiding house work. She is an Aquarius who loves tattoos and sarcasm, hates lawn mowers, and is obsessed with sci-fi novels and all things horror.
